Frieda's Candle Day: Illuminating Alzheimer's Journey
Frieda's Candle Day is a poignant testament to the power of love and solidarity in the face of Alzheimer's, an unyielding adversary that robs individuals of their memories and essence. Frieda, a resident of Mechelen, Belgium, now resides in a dedicated care facility, supported unwaveringly by her husband, Walter, who has made it his mission to be by her side every day.
This touching narrative culminated on February 27th, as a candle was lit during Mass at St. Mel Catholic Church in Woodland Hills, California. Father Lima's words reverberated, sharing Frieda's story and inviting the congregation to unite in prayer. Yet, the gesture didn't end there. Walter's rallying email reached across continents, sparking a global movement of candles lighting up simultaneously – a testament to love that transcends borders and time zones.
